By default Mac OS X Lion does not enable the double-tap drag option. You have to enable it if you know where to look. I find the double-tap drag very handy when I’m working with one hand on the computer. For example the other hand is holding the mobile phone or beverage.
In case you have no idea what I’m talking about I’m referring to moving an application window around the desktop space using a trackpad. This method is without using multiple key combinations or using two hands. Using a trackpad place the mouse at the top of the application window (title bar) and while hovering the mouse in that location double tap …then move the window about the screen (desktop).
Double-tap drag is a very useful option and a needful option once you become accustomed to it.
- Open System Preferences and click on the Universal Access icon
- Click on the Mouse & Trackpad button
- Click on Trackpad Options… and you will see the below
Why on earth this is considered by Apple to be a “Universal Access” option is beyond me. I don’t want to spend my time trying to understand the logic behind this option being buried like it is.
